Acid for the Children Flea gives an incredibly honest and vulnerable rendition of his formative years. Flea is a true artist, and this whole book drips with it. He's the quintessential sensitive young man in rough circumstances. It's hard to do much better if you're looking for a portrait of the artist as a young man type of book. It's also hilarious to read this after Scar Tissue and see the different perspectives on the same incidents. I strongly recommend the audiobook in particular. You get all of the Flea musicality and energy you'd expect, plus an additional heartrending layer of pathos in the sad scenes. If you're only gonna read one of the RHCP memoirs, read this one. Highly recommended for fans of youthful debauchery, arts, punk subcultures, or memoirs.
