Sea Stories The guy who ran the mission to kill Bin Laden recounts his working life. Kind of answers the question, “what if Forrest Gump had been a navy seal officer?” Beyond leading the mission that resulted in the death of bin Laden, he also had custody of the freshly captured Saddam, advised the federal government to compel travelers to take off their shoes in the TSA line, and ran the mission to rescue captain Phillips from the Somali pirates. It leans a little too deep into motivational platitudes than I would have liked and it feels too polished. It lacks the balance, complexity, and grit of About Face. But there’s no question that it’s well written and highly entertaining. Recommended for people who have rigorous morning routines and stan Jocko. Not especially recommended for military memoir enthusiasts.
