Once Upon a Time in DAOlin
There is no more storied, iconic, and historic piece of physical music on earth than the single copy of Wu-Tang Clan’s unreleased album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. After nearly a decade under wraps and in private hands, PleasrDAO purchased the complete album, with plans to oversee and fulfill Wu’s original vision. Bring da motherfuckin' ruckus.“We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of music…This is like someone having the scepter of an Egyptian ...

The Doge NFT: Own a Piece of Internet History
Yes, this is Doge. The iconic Doge. WOOF! What started off as ‘just’ an internet meme has worked its way into becoming a cultural phenomenon and a perennial piece of art. Doge, centered around a Shiba Inu dog with suboptimal grammar, has undoubtedly become the most loved meme of the decade. Whilst weaving its way into our hearts, this special canine has also paved the way for the viral memes that came after it.In June 2021, Atsuko Sato, the owner of the famous Shiba Inu (who goes by Kabosu), ...

Album Airdrop #1: GME
Be cautious of scams. No action is needed at this time. With the launch of thealbum.com there are several communities we want to reward. First and foremost is the $GME community, due to the historical intertwinement of the album with the community and the philosophical underpinnings we believe the community shares with the radical economic experiment the album represents. On June 2nd we launched a service integrated with Plaid to verify $GME holders status. This service was used by hundreds o...

“Perhaps it is our cultural attitudes to modern music that have cast it as something to be consumed. The complacency of no holds barred access and the saturation wrought by technology’s erosion of challenges” - Cilvaringz & The RZA
10 years ago a radical vision was cast, a piece of recorded music treated as fine art. Displayed in museums and institutions around the world. Instead of being on demand and available for streaming the Wu-Tang clan created a single copy of an album that only could be heard by the owner.
“We're making a single-sale collector's item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king."
Their plan worked, creating the most expensive and famous piece of music ever recorded. However, the public cost was high, depriving millions from the ability to enjoy the art.
In 2024 Pleasr initiated a campaign to bring the music to the people and fulfill the vision of Wu-Tang. Music valued and treated like art but available to more than one person.
This campaign is happening around the world in digital and physical spaces. It began on June 7th where it all started, in New York City at the very same place Wu-Tang took their 1996 album photos, the Angel Orensanz Foundation. For three days a free event took place where anyone could come and hear the music the way Wu-Tang intended it – displayed as a work of art.

These photos were taken at the event commemorating the moment and the launch of the campaign. You can mint these photos for the next 7 days. Each mint advances the album release date by 3 minutes 50 seconds and adds 920 points to your Wu Score. Check your score at thealbum.com.
