# War and Reckoning

    For many years, the Argonians were content with what they had. Saxhlil was lucky to live separately, in the most secluded corner of Tamriel - Alessia's war against the Ayleid oppressors in Cyrodiil passed them by, and after that the lands of Black Marsh were lucky not to find themselves in the crosshairs of the rapidly expanding Alessian Empire. The Argonians even joined the All Flags Fleet to crush the perpetrators of the Thrassian Plague that threatened the entire world.
    The unspoken non-aggression pact lasted until the creation of the second human empire under Reman II. Necromancy and Daedra worship were almost completely eradicated, peace reigned in Tamriel, the empire began to stagnate, and therefore the dragonborn ruler turned his attention to neighboring Morrowind and Black Marsh. His reckless invasion of Argonia will long remind human emperors of the dangers that the Black Marsh swamps conceal.
