# Preparing Watchtower for Onchain XP

Why We’re Migrating Wallets to Solana To date, Watchtower's activities and experience have primarily taken place off-chain. Initially, this approach worked well due to low participation and low risk. However, as the system evolved, its limitations became apparent. Off-chain activities are difficult to verify outside of Xyber, hard to distinguish from automated or replicated behavior, and cannot be independently verified or used. This weakens participation and makes trust unstable, rather than context-based. To overcome this challenge, Watchtower needs to link participation to real on-chain identities and a single, verifiable execution layer. Solana will play this role, providing the speed, cost-effectiveness, and configurability necessary for large-scale community participation. This will allow for the differentiation of real users from bots and "closers," and rewarding them based on their performance. This migration:links your existing Watchtower account to a Solana walletpreserves your XP, history, and participationestablishes a primary onchain identity for Xyber going forward Why Solana? Xyber is not becoming Solana-only. We will continue to support and roll out across EVM ecosystems, including networks like Base, as the broader platform evolves.Solana was chosen as the home for Watchtower and community rewards for a few clear reasons:low-cost, high-throughput transactions for frequent participation eventsfast finality, making XP updates and actions immediatestrong wallet UX for onboarding new usersa growing ecosystem aligned with consumer-scale applications
