---

The silver moon hangs o’er the tranquil lake,

Where willow branches dance and softly sway.

A lonely boat drifts by for heaven’s sake,

As stars begin to fade at break of day.

An old man sits with memories so deep,

Recalling springs long lost in time’s swift flow.

His promises to loved ones he must keep,

Though winter dusts his hair with frosty snow.

The waters hold the moon’s embracing light,

While distant temple bells chime through the pine.

Some truths are clearer in the still of night—

The world’s great symphony needs no design.

He smiles and picks his flute to play a tune,

That merges with the ripples ‘neath the moon.
