# Across Protocol is a bridge

Across Protocol is a bridge that provides instant transactions from Layer 2 to the main Ethernet network. It does this by enabling liquidity providers to offer short-term loans secured by Layer 2 deposits on Ether.

The project does not yet have a token, and community members are discussing the token economics of the upcoming token on their Discord server's #tokenomics channel. Plans such as an airdrop for early adopters are being discussed now. There are no confirmed airdrops at this time.
