金色财经报道，2021年12月8日下午，有“语言界啄木鸟”之称的《咬文嚼字》杂志社编辑部对外发布“2021年度十大流行语”，“元宇宙”一词上榜，此前“元宇宙”也当选为国家语言资源监测与研究中心发布的“2021年度十大网络用语”之一。
