The day you broke a window to my soul,
I felt my dreams and hopes were shattered.
I watched them falling piece by piece,
I wondered if to you it mattered
that inside there, a child was hiding.
She built these walls with time and tears
and she was resting there in peace
from all her pain and all her fears.
Now thanks to you she has no shelter,
And I am left to look inside and listen to her hurting,
instead of dancing with my friends, instead of being out there flirting.
But through the window that you broke,
she bled the sadness and the pain.
It left behind an empty space that can contain
the love, the strength, and peace that I revoked
while asking if to you I mattered.
The window to my soul is broken, but that, it didn’t break me.
It made a hole that lets the light come in.
It made the way so I can see again within.
And while I have no shelter for the stormy weather,
the window to my soul you broke has set me free.
