# Bibliometric analysis

[Fig. 1](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214635022001071#fig1) shows our first analysis, which depicts the number of publications and citations regarding crypto investor behavior. We can then identify that the highest citation year is 2018 (1178). As expected from that year onwards, citations have decreased since older articles have a higher probability of more citations. The year 2021 emerges as the most contributive year in our dataset (71). Meanwhile, in 2015 fewer articles were published (1). These results reveal a growing interest in academia and the novelty of this field of knowledge.

### 3.1. Top articles analysis

[Table 3](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214635022001071#tbl3) presents the top ten most-cited articles regarding several issues related to crypto investor behavior. [Urquhart (2016)](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214635022001071#b183) is the most cited article, followed by [Cheah and Fry (2015)](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214635022001071#b49) and [Bouri et al. (2017b)](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214635022001071#b36). Thus, it is evident that these articles are among the oldest articles in our dataset, justifying their high citations.
