# How I Found Bitcoin

*   After living in Communist Cuba, I started looking for anti-dictator money.
    
*   To test it, I sent Bitcoin to a few friends… without revealing my identity.
    
*   Then I tried proactively trading it – in 2017, bought @ $2.4k & sold @ $15k.
    
*   I joined crypto-twitter anonymously: best classroom I’ve ever learned in.
    
*   Finally I read the _magnum opus_ [Crypto-Current: Bitcoin and Philosophy](https://etscrivner.github.io/cryptocurrent/).
    
*   Then Communist China banned proof-of-work hashrate-heavy mining …
    

In sum – Communist Cuba, Coinbase, trading, twitter, philosophy & Communist China.

Now the free world has free reign to embrace freedom-money with freedom-tech.

It only remains to be seen who will.
