该曲改编自美国乡村音乐歌手Skeeter Davis的作品《The end of the world》，韩寒个人对这首歌耳熟能详，在制作电影《后会无期》时，他发现歌曲旋律相当贴合影片主题，因而决定将其改编成中文版，并邀请邓紫棋演唱该曲 [2] 。 该曲是邓紫棋首次为电影献唱的歌曲。韩寒有次在台湾工作时，坐在面包车里，后座的DVD播放着一个女孩的演唱会现场视频，她的声音令他印象深刻。他向司机询问女孩名字，司机回答了一句粤语，韩寒没听懂。后来，韩寒知道了这个女孩是邓紫棋，并记住了这个名字，在筹备电影《后会无期》时就决定找她合作
