In an interview with The Post, Luttig says he would have been open to prosecutors seeking a lesser sentence if the killer’s family had apologized on behalf of their son, who was 17 at the time of the murder, and if he hadn’t perceived a “coldness” from them. Beazley’s case reached the Supreme Court, where fully one-third of the court — Scalia, Thomas and Souter — recused themselves because of their close ties to Luttig; he was executed by lethal injection in 2002. ## Publication Information - [erqi](https://paragraph.com/@91av/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@91av/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@91av): Subscribe to updates
