Then the market did its little thing, and admittedly I got cautious. I took my time. But lately the energy has shifted in the space... it feels clearer. And with a shift in certain marketplaces, it felt like time for a change and "fresh start". I wanted to bring some of my best work onto SuperRare as a proper debut. So, three of my favourite mountain photographs are now listed in my collection titled ASCENSION on SuperRare: Peak of Paradox (left), Optimal Illusion (middle), Black Mirror (right)This series was very deliberate: Each photograph features both mountain and cloud, paired with poetic reflections on three themes: Reflection [of self]Illusion [of reality] Paradox [of choice]Shot of me on the ridge by Sarah Lyndsay from the evening I photographed "Optimal Illusion" These were made during a season of real life shift and reflection for me, where I was fully reconsidering my trajectory... reflections that ultimately led to making the decision of leaving academia and a future as a professor to pursue photography and art full-time. Thank you my friend more works available in "THE GREAT DIVIDE" 45 9:22 AM ā€¢ Feb 19, 2026 So on Thursday I got a notification that one of my 1/1's, "BLOOM", was in auction, and @moodSlime_ bid and ended up collecting it!! It was such a wonderful surprise... you never know who your art is going to connect with or why, and I was so excited to hear that the unique effect of the Turquoise colour shift film really sparked curiosity and connection. Huge thanks to moodSlime for their stoke and support šŸ«¶ For context, last August, Catherine Turl and I created a collaborative exhibition for mallowdotart with the support of Linda Global: Alex Mack @alexmack__ T H E G R E A T D I V I D E abstract visions of the Canadian Rockies @alexmack__ & @catherine_turl now live on @mallowdotart 66 10:01 AM ā€¢ Aug 6, 2025 Cathā€™s pieces are abstract physical paintings (oil + cold wax), and mine are 35mm photographs shot on colour shifted film. A reflection of our adventures and experiences together in the rockies, in totally different abstract languages. Remaining available works in this series: "Temporary" one of one, 1.69 SOL reserve. "Layers in Time" I and II: oil on cold wax physical paintings by Catherine TurlWe always talk about "onboarding new artists" into our space, and Cath is one of the most incredible examples of that goal. Cath is a traditional physical artist who joined the space not even a year ago and has since had her works shown in five international digital galleries through the space since then! She continues to push her craft, experiment and bring a beautiful energy to the space.
