We have had a serious problem for the entirety of the open source movement which didn't really bring down much of anything; it showed us that today everything the internet is built on sort of came from DARPA and sort of came from open source, but it can't seem to hold on to the ethos that would have made an allowed for storage to be free and abundant and people to start getting paid for writing things people were interested in.
