There are lots of things I wish I had know before I began to transition, and it's a mixed bag. But if your looking for regret that's not what you will find in my sack. Still there are lots of things it would have been helpful to know before I began my journey to become my most genuine self or at least early on in the process. I am a trans female and my name is Ashley, I hope I can help some people understand what it means to be transgender or gender non conforming a little better to break down some of the social barriers and stigmas that we may face or even embrace, and maybe even help someone understand their own identity a little more clearly. Let me start by saying that gender identity, like sexuality is a vast spectrum! And they are not necessarily tied to one another. I have found mine to be somewhat fluid and it has and changes over time as I experience new things and form new opinions and connections. There is no "right" way to express yourself, and only you can and should decide what that looks like.
