# Import your BrightID to a new device.

### When need Import for your BrightID?

If you don’t want or can’t use \*\*[Social Recovery](https://brightid.gitbook.io/brightid/setting-up-social-recovery) \*\*but want to move your account to your new device you can follow this process. Make sure you already have access to your account.

{Don’t forget to set up \*\*[Social Recovery](https://brightid.gitbook.io/brightid/setting-up-social-recovery) \*\*before losing your account, this is the only way to get back your account if somehow you lost your phone or account.}

### What do you need?

*   Your current BrightID account.
    
*   Your new Android or IOS device.

The Guide

### Step 1:

Install the BrightID app on your new phone and open it.

### Step 2:

Click **“Import”**

**Step 3:**

Once you click “Import” you’ll see a QR code. This QR code will be active for 15 minutes, if time passes have to generate a new QR code by using “Import” again.

**Step 4:**

You have to open BrightID account which are you using on your first device. And have to scan that QR code. Then have to give permission by clicking **“Yes”.** After that, you have to set a name for your new device. And Click **‘‘Submit’’**

**Step 5:**

After all, you have to do, just wait. Take a few times to Upload user data to your new diverse. The more connections you have to your account, the more time it will take to upload.

### Congratulations!

You successfully Import your BrightID account to your new device.

### Can you see & remove your primary BrightID from your first device?

**\-Yes you can!**

\*\* Step 1:\*\*

Open your BrightID app on your first device, and click “Menu” (that you can find left top corner)

**Step 2:**

Click **“Devices”**

**Step 3:**

Now can see all primary devices.

If you want you can remove any devices from here by using the bin option.
