Ethereum is gearing up for its Pectra upgrade, which will launch in two stages to implement over 20 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) efficiently. Highlights: - Two Forks: Pectra 1 and Pectra 2. - Pectra 1: Features 8 EIPs currently testing on Devnet 3. - Pectra 2: Includes PeerDAS and 12 additional EIPs. - Focus: Enhancing Layer 2 scalability and introducing Verkle Trees. In a meeting on September 19, 2024, Ethereum developers decided to split the upgrade, led by Alex Stokes from the Ethereum Foundation. Pectra 1 aims to reduce node data storage and improve wallet security, while Pectra 2 will boost Layer 2 performance and speed up smart contract execution. This strategic division promises timely enhancements, emphasizing scalability, security, and interoperability across Ethereum’s ecosystem.
