Founded in 2015, Samourai Wallet offered privacy-enhancing features to obscure fund sources. The DOJ claims the platform enabled unlawful transactions exceeding $2 billion and laundered over $100 million in criminal proceeds. This arrest highlights ongoing regulatory scrutiny of privacy-enhancing tools in the cryptocurrency space. The launch of ZKasino, a decentralized gambling network, caused outrage among investors when developers suddenly changed plans, preventing Ether redemption for users. Despite raising $33 million from over 10,000 participants, the funds were redirected to Lido, with the platform citing "noise and FUD" as reasons. Investors are concerned about a potential rug pull and seek accountability as the founder's personal information circulates online. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin criticized ZKasino for misusing the term "Zero-Knowledge (ZK)", emphasizing that its only ZK connection is through zkSync and warning about the term's misuse by fraudulent entities.
