# A simple resolution: be helpful every day

Hi friends 👋 –

I’ve grown my business entirely through referrals and word-of-mouth.

Every single client I’ve done work for over the last few years falls into one of three categories:

* People I’ve worked with in the past

* People I was referred to by clients or colleagues from past companies

* People who were already clients and moved to a new company

Until recently, I was very proud of this. After all, it must mean that I do good work.

But I’ve come to realize that this isn’t a badge of honor. It’s a sign that I’m not pushing myself hard enough.

I’m an introvert. Putting my head down and cranking out client work for people who already and know and trust me is my comfort zone.

I think strategically, but too often I make my clients tease ideas and opinions out of my head.

This year, I’m going to force them out every day no matter how uncomfortable it feels.

How?

I’m going to try to write something helpful every day in 2022. Not weekdays. Every single day. 365 days in a row.

Interested in cybersecurity sales and marketing? Just have a passing interest in watching introverts torture themselves?

Unsubscribing is easy if it gets annoying. We can still be friends either way.
