# Margaret F. Butler

**Margaret F. Butler** (1861 – October 16, 1931) was an American physician who chaired the [otorhinolaryngology](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otorhinolaryngology) department at the [Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woman%27s_Medical_College_of_Pennsylvania). In 1908, she was the first woman to preside over any international congress of physicians, as the only woman and only American in attendance. She was a fellow of the [American College of Surgeons](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_College_of_Surgeons).
