We are excited to announce the launch of the Escape Velocity Rebate Program with 6MM BLACK tokens allocated for Season 1. Why Escape Velocity?Escape Velocity is built around two core objectives:Accelerate decentralisation of ownership of the DEX by empowering and incentivizing community veBLACK holdersMake Locking More Attractive and Rewarding: The effective payback time for new locks (or adding to current ones) is reduced. This makes participation more cost-efficient and appealing, motivating fresh engagement and deeper commitment from the communityHow Does the Escape Velocity Rebate Work?Launching with an initial 6 million veBLACK rebates available for Season 1, the rules for the Escape Velocity Program are:Lock a minimum of 2000 veBLACK (excluding airdrop locks)Extend an existing lock by at least 2000 veBLACK during the season This applies to both Supermassive and Singularity locks, as long as the 2000 veBLACK minimum is metIf locks transfer between wallets, the rebate is awarded to the wallet that performs the locking action, ensuring fairnessTokens claimed as Rebase will not be eligible for a rebateEach locker can receive a rebate up to 10% of the season’s total pool. This cap of 10% encourages broad participation while avoiding concentration of rewards in a few large holdersThe rebate will come in the form of a Supermassive NFTs airdropped directly to qualifying wallets What’s the Expected Impact?By encouraging locking through this rebate structure, we anticipate a surge in interest, resulting in more BLACK tokens being locked over the season (building on the 4.5 million already locked). This demand will help drive value and strengthen Blackhole's position within the Avalanche DeFi ecosystem.Demand CurveThe table below approximates how many BLACK tokens would be locked, based on this season's reward sizes vs. a final rebate settlement rate at the end of the season of 20%, 25%, 33%, 40%, 50%.Dune DashboardTo keep everyone in the loop, a dedicated Dune dashboard tracks fresh locks and rebate percentages throughout the Escape Velocity season. From the moment of announcement until the season’s close, you can watch progress, seeing exactly which wallets are locking, how much veBLACK they’re committing, and the rebates earned so far.
