**“Why Advise People who don't want to listen”**

### **Weekly Random Acts of Evolution**

This week’s act of evolution comes from a powerful conversation between **Joey Badass** and **19Keys.** This “**High-Level**” conversation was so full of gems that I may be using it for the next couple of weeks.

The cover image for this week’s post speaks to the challenge of trying to advise a crowd that is not able to hear your message. At its most extreme, the question raised, **“Why Advise People who don't want to listen?”,** speaks to the notion of preserving one’s self over trying to reach everyone but there is also the fact that some people’s minds may not be in a place where they can receive and learn that lesson.

This is one of the points Joey and 19Keys discussed early on in the discussion. Joey shares his plant analogy and his desire to see it grow to the point where he started to indirectly harm it by unraveling a new leaf before its time.

This resonated with me because I love when I unlock new things in my mind to the point that I want others to do the same. However, where I am in my life and the capacity I have to learn may not be the same for others, and in turn, the overwhelming amount of information could actually be a deficit. Coupling that with my own desire to want to see that for them then put my emotion onto them which may create a rift between me and what I desire for them.

Why is that for me to urge them so hard? People learn at their own pace, so if they are not ready yet, **Why Advise People who don't want to listen?”**

### **Between Space and Time**

In the depths of the NFT ocean is a submarine that exists to help creators drive value through their digital collectibles. **Pinata**, the leading content manager of decentralized storage, has a solution for this. Submarine comes with a set of controls that allow for NFTs amongst other controls to lock content stored on IPFS. The video below highlights how content can be gated on the following premises:

*   NFT Gate

*   Payment Received

*   Geo-Location

*   Retweets

This focuses specifically on the use case of token gating a podcast episode but there are plenty of other use cases to consider.

Some of these other use cases include:

* Bring people to a specific location then allow for the content to be accessed only there

* Drive social engagement via retweets to spread content

I have a few ideas of how this can be leveraged and I’ll save that for another time.

### **Aesthetics of the week**

MidJourney art continues to impress me but this week we take a break to admire some traditional photography and graphic design. I am not sure who created this but it is a perfect wallpaper for my phone as a Mercedes F1 fan.

### **Chaotic Explorations**

The rise of AI continues! This week I took some time to explore one of my favorite presentation tools which has now been enhanced with AI. **Canva** has a number of new AI features that have been donned under the name of “**Magic**”. Read more [**here**](https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/23/23652131/canva-ai-update-visual-worksuite-brand-tools-features) from their announcement and check out some of the features below.

* Magic Replace - swap out graphics across all files

    * ex. Change your logo across all files

* Magic Eraser - Canva allows you to remove any element from a presentation while replacing it with the background

* Magic Edit - Use Text Prompt and Generative AI to replace elements

* Magic Design - Creates a set of templates from a text prompt

* Magic Presentation - create a presentation from a text prompt

### **Gentei Kaijou**

Welcome, this week, we have a first-timer, **Tidal Wave** in the building to share his new album, **Waverunner**, which is largely inspired by the frequency of the ocean waves. **Tidal** describes how he designed beats to emulate the same motion produced in the ocean. Check it out below.

**Wavy Beats**

“First, I start by recording actual ocean waves to use as a reference. This helps me to get a sense of the different tones and rhythms that make up the sound. I listen closely to the waves and try to identify the different layers of sound, such as the sound of the waves breaking, the rush of water as it pulls back into the ocean, and the gentle ebb and flow of the tide.

Once I have a good sense of the sound of the ocean, I start experimenting with different instruments and sounds to create an instrumental that captures the essence of the waves. I might use a synthesizer to create the sound of the rushing water or a drum kit to emulate the sound of the waves breaking on the shore. I might also incorporate natural sounds, such as seagulls or the sound of the wind, to add to the atmosphere.

As I'm creating the instrumental, I try to keep the overall feeling of relaxation and meditation in mind. I want the listener to be able to close their eyes and feel as if they're sitting on the beach, listening to the waves. I might add in some gentle percussion or melodic lines to create a sense of movement and flow, but I always try to keep the overall feeling peaceful and calming.

Finally, I mix the instrumental to create a sense of space and depth. I might add in some reverb or other effects to create the feeling of being in a large, open space.

This allows for the oceanic elements to act as percussion: You can incorporate oceanic elements, such as the sound of waves breaking or the sound of seagulls, as part of your percussion. You can chop up these sounds and use them as drum hits, or you can use them to create a more atmospheric texture. This can add an interesting and unique dimension to your beat. I also pay attention to the overall balance of the mix, making sure that each element is contributing to the overall feeling of the piece.

A great example of this is **Joey Badass’ Waves**”

### **Chaotic Vibrations**

This week’s vibrations snuck up on me. I’ve heard this song before when it was released last year but with the release of Hit Boy’s new album this week, I was reintroduced to it. Check it out.

Enjoy!

Until next time, keep on seeking balance!
