FIFA 宣布了2026年美加墨世界杯「扩军」后的全新赛制：48支球队将分为12个小组，每组前2名以及8支成绩最好的小组第3名将携手晋级32强，而届时淘汰赛阶段将新增一轮1/16决赛。除此之外，2026年世界杯的决赛将于2026年7月19日举行。

FIFA announced a new competition system after the "expansion" of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico: 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups, and the top 2 in each group and the 3rd place in the 8 best groups will advance to the top 32 together. A round of 1/16 finals will be added to the knockout stage. In addition, the final of the 2026 World Cup will be held on July 19, 2026.
