# Spiky population density maps

I rediscovered the maps and work of [Alasdair Rae](https://twitter.com/undertheraedar) this morning. (He has appeared on this blog before in posts like [this one here](https://brandondonnelly.com/2019/10/14/paris-and-vancouver-population-densities-compared/).) Alasdair works in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield and is author of the blog, [Stats, Maps n Pix](http://www.statsmapsnpix.com/). Recently, he's been publishing [maps showing population densities](http://www.statsmapsnpix.com/2020/04/population-density-in-europe.html) around the world. He also gets into the details of how they're made. They are pretty cool to see.
