Book Club Radio is one of my first posts in the [/djs](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/djs) channel and an absolute staple in my queue. What started out as low-key house parties has turned into exclusive sold-out invite-only parties. Before digging into the history, let's spin up some sets.

**Groovy Disco and R&B Mix at a New York Basement Party | Tinzo**

[![](https://paragraph.xyz/editor/youtube/play.png)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nvewes8Inc)

This was the first set I found and shared. Honestly, a set I play once a week. DJ Tinzo is one of my favorite in their line up. Here are my favorite tracks from this set:

* [31:40](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nvewes8Inc&t=1900s) Spooky (Quinten 909 Extended Remix) - Dusty Springfield

* [42:40](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nvewes8Inc&t=2560s) - Nina Simone - Sinnerman (Felix Da Housecat’s Heavenly House Remix)

*   [45:55](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nvewes8Inc&t=2755s) - ESSEL - Love Vibration (Extended Mix)

* [47:50](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nvewes8Inc&t=2870s) - Milk & Sugar - Let the Sun Shine (Purple Disco Machine Extended Remix)

So from 42:40 to 48:57 are my top favorite minutes of this set. I love the transitions between each track. I am also a sucker for anything that pulls in Nina Simone and 5th Dimension. [Fun fact](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquarius/Let_the_Sunshine_In#History): _Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In_ was one of the top played tracks of 1969.

**Funky Minimal House Mix in a New York Basement | sznl**

Actually just found this today & am swapping them in. DJs SZNL kill it in this set. Spinning a lot of favorites and new found tracks.

*   [11:40](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qt3NxttpPQ&t=700s) Disco Rocker - Murphy’s Law

*   [1:00:21](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qt3NxttpPQ&t=3621s) shawty. - Ranger Trucco

*   [1:10:18](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qt3NxttpPQ&t=4218s) Ain’t No Other Man (Rework) - Murphy’s Law

* [1:13:05](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qt3NxttpPQ&t=4385s) Got Funk? (DJ Tonka Mix)- The Funk Junkeez _transitioning to_

* [1:14:06](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qt3NxttpPQ&t=4446s) Around the World - Daft Punk

I have a soft spot for Murphy's Law, but they also spin a lot of songs I've heard before. Love the transition from _Got Funk?_ to Daft Punk. But my favorite though short lived track is _Ain't No Other Man_ with the amazing vocal of Christina Aguilera; makes me want to create more mixes with it.

**Classic 90s House Remixed Set at a New York Basement Party | Jojo**

[![](https://paragraph.xyz/editor/youtube/play.png)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_688msEPUE)

Final one I'll share with you today. DJ Jojo is is the other found with Tinzo. Both are siblings and equally talented. Favorite track of this set:

* [04:35](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_688msEPUE&t=275s) Chicago by Dami DC

* [15:46](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_688msEPUE&t=946s) Enjoy The Silence (Ewan Pearson Extended Mix)

* [36:15](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_688msEPUE&t=2175s) Pump The Jam by FELIXCW

* [55:49](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_688msEPUE&t=3349s) It Feels So Good (OSSX Edit)

I can't not pick the _Chicago_ track; 1) love voice overs 2) love Chicago. The other tracks are just re-imagining well-know tracks that were already solid. This mix is just a good showcase of House.

If you want to explore more about this DJ group, I suggest to check out their social links:

Also definitely recommend supporting them on Patreon. As a $3/month subscription, just a great price to be able to download all these sets for later. Full disclosure, I am not making any money off sharing this.

I also found [this article from The Luna Collective](https://www.thelunacollective.co/journal/spotlight-book-club-radio). It was the most in depth resource I found about the group. They create a phone free place where good vibes and good music bring people together. Also, love how they are giving space to people of color and women/NB/queer people. They've also started touring a bit with a upcoming show in Chicago [April 12th](https://dice.fm/event/o9x95-tinzo-jojo-from-book-club-radio-12th-apr-smoke-mirrors-chicago-tickets).

See you next week right here at Slice of Chicago – spinning the illest sets on your time 🙌
