[1/2 of Americans are dissatisfied](https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2016/10/06/3-how-americans-view-their-jobs/#:~:text=About%20half%20\(49%25\)%20of,education%20and%20key%20job%20characteristics.) with their jobs. [2/3 of Americans say that they worry about money](https://www.bankrate.com/banking/money-and-financial-stress-statistics/#:~:text=In%20October%202022%2C%20the%20APA,a%20significant%20source%20of%20stress.) and nearly all of us are [spending 3/4 of our income on cost of living (food, housing and transportation) expenses](https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cesan.nr0.htm).

So what does this having to do with Collective Housing??
--------------------------------------------------------

[Studies on UBI have shown that](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_basic_income_pilots), on average, an individual will experience a (10-15%) increase in economic productivity when they don’t have to worry about money.

In addition, [being satisfied with your work shows a similar increase in productivity.](https://www.forbes.com/sites/barnabylashbrooke/2023/07/13/job-satisfaction-is-key-to-workplace-productivity-but-how-do-you-get-it/#:~:text=Past%20research%20has%20drawn%20similar,put%20the%20figure%20at%2012%25.)

`We can therefore create the assumption that approximately 1/2 of the US (or global) workforce is under-productive to the extent of ~25%.`

`Hypothesis :`

`Net Gain can be achieved by helping individuals become gainfully employed.`

When costofLiving < potentialGain … altHyp = false
--------------------------------------------------

The question isn’t “_what does this have to do with CoHousing_” but rather, “_how can we decrease COL expenses while increasing success rates_”

* coHousing can be purchased in rural locations allowing for decrease housing costs

* providing on-site amenities allows for decrease transportation costs

* sharing food costs / production can decrease food expenses

Additionally, positive network effects will be experienced as the member count grows

* members can assist with job training / mentorship

* potential new businesses can be created via collaborative efforts

* employment opportunities can occur via in-network businesses or external referrals

### As members increase their economic output, some portion will become paying clients, creating brand loyal customers and further subsidizing the cost of acquiring new members.
