The year is coming to a close soon, and that means it’s time to look back on everything that happened in 2023 and reflect. Reflect on things that were done well and things that were done not so well.

This past week saw plenty of studios showoff their accomplishments, and plenty more stated their goals for 2024. But while some games are reflecting, others are building. Just because it’s the holidays doesn’t mean you can be lazy.

So while we’re starting our holiday shopping, developers are staying hard at work to build the future of video games.

All [Starknet](https://twitter.com/StarknetFndn) had to do was say 1.8 billion, and they got the entire internet’s attention. While some have known of Starknet’s intention with their token for a while, it’s exciting to see the Foundation come out and state their goals for the future in public. This marks an ambitious push for Starknet to cement themselves at the forefront of not just fully onchain gaming, but crypto itself.

Hot off the presses is the pixelated adventure, [Aether Sands](https://twitter.com/Aether_Sands). Built with MUD on Lattice, Aether Sands recently had their first playtest and celebrated the nascent milestone on X. Aether Sands aims to “[create a rich Autonomous World experience](https://twitter.com/Aether_Sands/status/1732190042012193136)” for players. The game involves growing, harvesting, and trading alien trees while excavating alien monoliths. With their commitment to creating full AWs, we’re looking forward to seeing what Aether Sands has to offer.
