# What is "ZetaChain" project?

**What is “ZetaChain” blockchain technology?** ”[ZetaChain](https://twitter.com/zetablockchain)” includes a proof-of-stake (POS) blockchain built on top of the Cosmos SDK that connects to external blockchains (e.g. Ethereum, BSC, Solana, Avalanche, Terra, Bitcoin) and layers (e.g. Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum). Decentralized face is connected. Without a single point of failure, a trustless, permissionless, transparent and efficient way. Awesome!

So what can you do with “ZetaChain”? With “ZetaChain”, we enable developers to build “odApps” with the same ease as developing “dApps” for a single network like Ethereum or Polygon, while still being able to leverage the ability to be composed across networks. Good for developers!

“ZetaChain” provides two ways for users and developers to use its cross-chain capabilities:

1.  “ZetaChain” provides EVM-compatible smart contracts so developers don't need to learn another language and can easily customize their existing Ethereum “dApps” to work on all connected networks. In addition, “ZetaChain” has built-in decentralized bridges to and from all connected chains so that assets and data can easily flow in and out of “ZetaChain”.
    
2.  “ZetaChain” will be a programmable public computer that will directly read and update states across all connected networks. Application logic is primarily active on “ZetaChain”, while statuses are primarily active on external chains.

**“ZetaChain” comprehensive security**

The project initially builds the security of “ZetaChain”. It implements extensive technical, social and economic protection and defense measures to secure “ZetaChain” and the network.

“ZetaChain” uses Mint's proposal for consensus and is decentralized in terms of architecture and infrastructure. “ZetaChain” uses the GG20 Leaderless Threshold Signature Scheme (TSS), which performs key generation and key signing in a distributed manner. No “ZetaChain” node or anyone else has access to the full private key at any point in time. When the project develops its swap feature, instead of developing vaults controlled by “ZetaChain”, it uses tested liquidity pools in networks like Uniswap and PancakeSwap, thus reducing the attack surface significantly.

All input/output transactions and decisions made (via state changes) are recorded in “ZetaChain” blocks, which are accessible, immutable, verifiable and fully transparent.
