Offering NTFs for mint and Beating around the bush about the purpose of the NTFs, by some projects in anticipation of TGE, is becoming an increasingly common practice in creating the feeling among users that NTFs will secure them some Airdrop.
This new trend essentially creates an environment where buying NTFs becomes a form of insurance to secure your potential Airdrop. Projects are leveraging the hype around Airdrops to incentivize NTF purchases, promising the likelihood of a secured Airdrop as a return on investment. It's critical to understand that while this can be a potentially rewarding strategy, it also carries inherent risks. As with any investment, it's vital to thoroughly research the project and its tokenomics before purchasing NTFs with the sole purpose of securing an Airdrop. Stay informed, stay cautious, and never invest more than you're willing to lose.
Sometimes these investments are not significant, but it is more about creating a feeling among the members of the community that the NTFs that they mint, provide them with a safe Airdrop that the community is speculating about.
Just these days we have a situation of dissatisfaction where many users of the Starknet network are complaining about the fact that they did not receive an Airdrop. The comments mostly refer to the criteria, but some of them mention that, while minting numerous NTFs for a year, they hoped that this would be one of the criteria. That is, these NTFs are an important criterion for Airdrop.
In an era of rampant speculation and soaring digital assets, buying NFTs with the hope of securing an Airdrop has become a common practice. The sentiment amongst many in the community is that these NFTs serve as a form of 'Airdrop insurance'. They anticipate that their minted NFTs will guarantee them a safe landing when the much-awaited Airdrop occurs. While this strategy can be fruitful for some, it's important to keep in mind that just like every financial venture, there are always risks involved. So, whether you're minting your first NFT or preparing for an upcoming Airdrop, make sure to carefully analyse the tokenomics and fully understand the potential outcomes - both the gains and losses.
Also, we recently witnessed the amount of FUD and FOMO caused by the release of the Libertas Omnibus NTF by zkSync (upcoming phase 2).
zkSync subsequently stated that this NTF can play an important role in the future, which caused that it currently has a high price on the market, although zkSync has repeatedly announced that there will be more opportunities to mint this NTF and that there is no need for FOMO.
