It’s been a while since new technology scared the shit out of me. Dall•E 2 out of OpenAI is an artificial intelligence system that creates art from natural language. The captions below the following images were the only input used by the AI to create the art: "a magical book that contains universes inside of it with a cyberpunk cover, digital art" "an illustrated encyclopedia of an imaginary world, created by Italian artist, and written in an imaginary script" "a futuristic interface that allows people to see their thoughts" At first, I thought that this would have a disastrous impact on human-made art. But then, the optimist in me realized that AI will kill creativity in roughly the same way the iPhone did. Hint, hint… the iPhone did not kill creativity. It simply changed it. Moar creativity. Moar art.
