Here we are, the first episod of our newsletter!

Every two months in our newsletter, you will find between 4 and 6 key web3 and blockchain news items that have caught our interest. But also a summary of the major news and updates from Third Space.

What's in the world of web3 ?
-----------------------------

### This summer is off to a "great start" for Bitcoin!

From 25 to 27 July, **the Bitcoin Conference** was held in Nashville, an event that caused quite a stir on the American continent, around the world and especially on X. It was hard to miss the speech by the former President of the United States, Donald Trump. This is a first in the history of crypto, which tends to shun government bodies like the plague.

![](https://storage.googleapis.com/papyrus_images/82571f3673f744fb003d8098198b1195.jpg)

A rather encouraging position from the billionaire, who nonetheless demonstrated a great lack of knowledge in the field. Very American-centric for a sector that wants to break free of borders. The focus is on centralising crypto assets in the US, which must not have pleased bitcoiners.

This intervention, whose meaning is open to question, had more than annoying repercussions for the Bitcoin price in the days that followed. After the former president promised to set up a strategic fund of government BTC, **the government sold a total of 28,000 BTC** to the dark web site Silk Road. This mysterious transaction sparked a surge in speculation. In fact, this demonstrates the current volatility and instability of the market.

We shall see what happens in the months ahead. Let's hope that investors will regain confidence after all these tumultuous events.

### On the move in Europe

We have not heard much about Europe for some time now, but it is gradually taking action to develop concrete applications.

Recently, the [MiCA](https://www.amf-france.org/fr/actualites-publications/actualites/marches-de-crypto-actifs-publication-du-reglement-europeen-mica) initiative was set up to provide a framework (a first) for the classification and identification of cryptos and tokens.

We already know that with **EUBOF and EBSI**, Europe is a pioneer in public blockchain infrastructures. Now it is demonstrating that it is acting in line with market developments. But in practical terms, where is it currently heading?

A case in point is its collaboration with [ChromaWay](https://chromaway.com/solutions) to develop blockchain solutions for DPPs. **Contract worth $100,000B**. Europe is reinventing itself and trying to innovate to keep its various industries at the cutting edge. There is talk of reviewing its priorities to emphasise resilience and adaptability.

Europe is trying to establish itself as a leader in blockchain regulation. Let the race begin!

### Quick as a blink

You probably haven't missed Solana's latest innovation. **The ‘Actions’ strategy** supported by the [Blinks](https://solana.com/docs/advanced/actions) solution is designed to make web3 much more accessible to web2 users by enabling them to transform on-chain operations into simple clickable links.

This is an innovation that will stand out in the history of web3. It is the most advanced solution for opening up our ecosystem to people who are still closed to it.

Available mainly on X, the blinks are reminiscent of **the Farcasters Frames** layout, which allows direct interaction with Farcasters' native dApps. We hope to see this developed on other platforms to make transactions even easier. This is the start of a great movement to open up blockchain.

### Solana, or the future of agriculture?

Imagine being able to buy wine for your restaurant without going through ten intermediaries, including two TNCs and three public infrastructures... Just imagine. And yes, it is possible thanks to Solana (they are everywhere). While the blockchain is known for its memecoin ecosystem, it is primarily a blockchain of entrepreneurs and innovation.

[AgriDex](https://agridex.com) is a prime example. By facilitating agricultural trades and contracts between farms and importers, AgriDex bypasses the multiple taxes imposed by states. Note, it doesn't remove delivery fees—it's not magic.

Thanks to this, a South African farm was able to sell 200 cases of olive oil and several cases of wine to a British importer **for a modest tax of £5 in just a few seconds**.

Solana is emerging as a leader in the agricultural industry, providing crucial support to independent farmers and acting as a broker for commercial contracts.

The only downside, as usual, is accessibility for non-Web3 natives. Fortunately, Blinks has just been released.

### Top 10 crypto-currencies blast

Forbes recently published a top 10 list of the cryptocurrencies that have skyrocketed the most in 2024. The crypto market has grown again, this time by $661B.

In ascending order, here are the currencies you might be a bit sad about not investing in last year:

*   10th: Solana's L2 **Bonk** = 90%

*   9th: **Bitget Token BGB** = 100%

*   8th: **Toncoin** = 135%

*   7th: **Core** \= 152%

*   6th: **Arweave** \= 188%

*   5th: **JasmyCoin** \= 343%

*   4th: **Floki** \= 392%

*   3rd: Artificial Superintelligence Alliance **FET** \= 545%

*   2nd: **Pepe** \= 815%

*   1rst: **WIF** = 1306%

As you can see, memecoins are very much in vogue at the moment. Not to be outdone by the giant Bitcoin, which is once again showing more than solid growth (despite a few recent falls for political reasons).

Third Space's news
------------------

### We launched the POC

**The Third Space POC has been online and available to everyone for 1 month now**. A colourful adventure that kept us busy for the whole of July, from submitting our status to launching our first advertising campaign.

The campaign on X and LinkedIn was quite prolific in terms of traffic to the site, with **over 730 visitors in July**, including 50% more visitors from the US.

A total of **50 wallets**, split between Metamask and Phantom, are registered in our database. Very encouraging for the rest of the adventure. Nearly **60 users** for around **15 projects created** on the site.

It was also an opportunity to bring you our [launch trailer](https://youtu.be/oxucZ0i-Mes?si=qhzZKbwQObhnj4pM). All the work was done by our CEO, and it looks particularly good. We wanted to present it in Time Square thanks to TSX, but this was not possible for both budgetary and technical reasons: it is difficult to present a site if it is forbidden to show a URL.

We are very pleased to be able to offer you this POC.

During the whole month of July it was free to use, so sorry for newcomers, this benefit will no longer be available. If you would like to join the Third Space adventure and develop your own project simply on web3, or support us as we move forward, this is the place to do it: [Third Space](https://3rd-space.io).

### Emailing is ready to use

Obviously, we are not resting on our laurels. Initially available only via wallet connection, we realised that we needed to make it possible to connect via email.

**You can now join us with an email** from Google, Yahoo, Caramail (does that still exist?), Microsoft etc. As part of our aim to open up web3 to as many people as possible, we are always trying to make things as easy as possible for you.
