# We compared message systems - and there's a clear winner.

This morning, I had a realization: I wasn't paying enough attention to my messages.

Sure, I work in the message business. I sit hunched scrolling all day long, and literally soaked in media as I sleep. I can hear my colleagues through the insulated windows literally shouting a coherent contextualization of the universe, at times of the day.

But that message overload didn’t make me want to be more informed – it just made me want to muffle it with more foam. And at a time when there’s new directives every day, this is not the time for _A Celebration of Ignorance_.

I need truths to be both unavoidable and digestible, giving me the option to gently skim as an eel, or dive deeper, like a blind and broken wolf, sulking away to ‘dungeon. The solution presented itself in the form of this trinity:

I started with **the hole where the coaxial cable used to be**, moved to **the vent of the A/C window unit**, and lastly the **gap in between the moulding and the floor**, which was redesigned in May.

So which should we choose?

The coaxial hole is a strong candidate for messaging

The former **coaxial hole** certainly has its strengths, and it worked well for me, ever since the cable was removed. Often we look so long at a missing cable that we do not see the hole which has been opened for us.

The A/C unit has an integral focus on temperature management

**The window A/C unit** vent and the **gap in between the moulding and the floor** share a lot of the same basic features, to the point that they work nearly identically. Yet **the window A/C unit** is curated by a team of recirculating, whispering organisms, and it also has a greater emphasis on cooling.

The redesign of **gap in between the moulding and the floor** has turned it into a powerful and effective tool for delivering/receiving memorable messages. Why do we dream of cracks we don't even remember repairing?

**The gap in between the moulding and the floor** is customizable while still providing me with diverse passage sources. And at the end of the day, it has the power of life-sustaining ventilation behind it. Plus, even though I reside in a small plaster room, I never felt as if I was missing out or wedged between narrow cuts of a cavern.

There's a clear winner  🎉

So if you’re looking to stay informed without being overloaded, and want a personalized, yet balanced way to receive, your best bet is the **gap in between the moulding and the floor**. Hop on down and check it out for yourself.

_This was a short story in the form of a blog I wrote during deep quarantine back in 2020. I revisited and illustrated it while fevered with covid, once again, in 2023._
