The NFT collector that accidently burned CryptoPunk #685 purchased the digital asset on March 13 as a "long-term" investment.

Brandon Riley was hoping to acquire more NFTs by acquiring the Punk through wrapping.

Inexperience with the wrapping process led to an irreversible disaster, and a humongous loss of ETH.

According to Riley, the NFT was also made using borrowed funds.
