Summary / Goal DegenPOD aims to become a catalyst for creativity and innovation within the Farcaster Community by hosting a pilot series podcast. This series will not only explore diverse topics ranging from art and hacking but also seek to empower listeners to engage actively in creating NFTs, frames, applications, and more. With a focus on teaching practical skills, the podcast is poised to inspire a wave of creative projects within the space. Our goal is to launch a mini-series of podcast episodes that delve deep into the essence of Farcaster. This initiative is about more than just recording discussions; it's about providing listeners with resources to chase their ideas and contribute tangible creations to the crypto space. The episodes in this mini-series will be a testament to DegenDAO’s commitment to nurturing the community and onboarding new listeners to the exciting world of Degen. Episodes DegenPOD aims to explore the dynamic intersections of art, technology, and community within the crypto realm, reflecting the vast interests of our listeners. With Farcaster continually buzzing with new art projects, applications, and tokens, we plan to launch a mini-series with 5 episodes, each focusing on a unique aspect in the Farcaster community. We welcome suggestions from the community for potential guests who can enrich our discussions. Based on our engagement with and understanding of the community, we've identified a preliminary list of guests who we believe would provide valuable insights. Here’s how we plan to structure each episode:2-3 minutes of Housekeeping: We'll start with updates from DegenDAO, podcast news, and a quick rundown of what listeners can expect in the episode.10-15 minutes on the Main Topic: The core of each episode will dive into our main subject, enriched with insights from our guests and commentary from our hosts. For episodes featuring visual content or demonstrations, we’ll make these available on platforms that support visual media, such as YouTube, ensuring all our listeners can follow along.5-10 minutes for Community Q&A: This segment will answer questions submitted by our listeners.5 minutes for Big Idea: ask the guest what would they pursue in crypto space if they had unlimited time and budget 1-2 minutes Outro: Each episode will conclude with a brief outro, sharing updates on the next episode and a specific call to action for our listeners, such as submitting feedback, questions, or following us on social media for the latest updatesWe aim to stick to this structure and we’re committed to delivering the best content possible. This means there might be slight variations in each episode’s format to accommodate the unique insights our guests bring to the table. Platform The DegenPOD series will be hosted on Pods.media, a leading web3 platform hosting a wide array of podcasts, including many from the Farcaster community. Through this platform, listeners can not only enjoy episodes but also follow updates and mint our podcast episodes as NFTs, adding another level to listener engagement. To ensure our series reaches the widest possible audience, we'll also leverage Pods.media’s ability to link traditional web2 platforms on popular services like Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcast. This hybrid distribution strategy ensures maximum accessibility, allowing us to engage a broad audience across different platforms. We'll also take advantage of making tiers of minting. We'll have our participation level role available through minting our episode on Pods. It will enable you to participate in nominating new guests and other opportunities for engagement like meme contests, raffles, NFT art giveaways, etc. We'll also mint the episodes on Zora for in-frame minting with $DEGEN. This will enable the owner to vote on the nominations for new guests and provide access to other voting opportunities that might arise. Core Team Roles To ensure the smooth production and wide-reaching distribution of the DegenPOD series, we envision a small but efficient core team. Each member will play a crucial role in bringing the podcast to life, from initial conception to final distribution. Here are the roles we believe are vital to our team's success: Host - @0xHashbrown (Rob): The Host will be the voice of DegenPOD, responsible for scripting, hosting, and recording the podcast episodes. Beyond merely presenting, the Host will engage guests in meaningful conversations, ensuring discussions are both informative and engaging for our listeners. Social Media & Community Manager - @50cal-eth (Cal): This role is tasked with promotion and outreach to maximize audience reach. Responsibilities include managing our social media presence, collecting community questions for episodes, fostering engagement around our content, and building a vibrant community of listeners and contributors Editor & Producer - TBD: Our Editor/Producer will handle the technical backbone of podcast production, including audio editing, sound quality enhancement, and episode uploading to web2 platforms and publishing to web3 platforms. They will ensure that each episode is polished and professional, meeting our audience's high standards. Join Our Team We're on the lookout for passionate, creative individuals to fill these roles. If you're excited about the Farcaster community and have skills in hosting, social media management, audio editing, or community engagement, we want to hear from you. Join us in shaping a podcast that reflects the dynamism and diversity of our community. Incentives / Engagement Our objective extends beyond just producing content; it's about actively involving our audience and enhancing the DegenDAO's presence. To achieve this, we're introducing incentives aimed at not only fostering a more engaged community but also potentially generating revenue for the DAO. Here are the key strategies we plan to implement:Empower DAO NFT Holders: We'll enable holders of our DAO's NFTs to have a say in the podcast's direction by voting on upcoming guests, selecting topics for future discussions, and submitting questions for interviews. This direct involvement ensures that our content remains relevant and engaging for our community.Introduce New NFT Collections: To further engage our audience, we'll launch special NFT collections tied to the podcast. These collections will enable fans of the podcast without DAO NFTs the opportunity to vote on aspects of the podcast, serving as both a unique entry point and a way to deepen their connection with the content.Mint Podcast Episodes: Offering the option to mint podcast episodes as NFTs on Pods.media presents a novel way for listeners to support and own a piece of the podcast and participate in community engagements like nominating guests. We'll also publish episodes on Zora with a $DEGEN mint with a higher tier that allows holder to vote for the nominated guests, etc. All proceeds from these mints will go back into the DegenDAO treasury, helping to fund future projects and sustain the podcast series. This will also be the mechanism for NFT holders Integrate Swaye and Ponder: We are planning to utilize Swaye and Ponder for incentivizing our audience to vote and decide on the guest for the podcast. This will give the audience a connection with the creation of the podcast and hopefully develop fans of the show.Community Allowlist: Include an allowlist to give a discount for fans to mint an episode of the podcast. We can add our Degen community and the community of our guest to the allowlist to further engagement and spread throughout Farcaster.By implementing these strategies, we aim to create a vibrant, engaging community around the DegenPOD series, while also exploring new avenues for revenue that can support the DAO's growth. Funding Request and Allocation To launch the DegenPOD series, we are seeking an initial investment of 0.5 ETH to cover the production costs of our first five episodes. This budget includes:Episode Production (0.1 ETH per episode): This allocation covers all aspects of production, including recording, editing, guest compensation, and promotional efforts to maximize reach and engagement.Guest Compensation (10% - 0.01 ETH per episode): Acknowledging the value and expertise our guests bring to the podcast, we allocate a portion of each episode’s budget to compensate them for their contributions.Part of the guest compensation will also include a percentage of the profits from the NFTs minted on the episode they appeared on.Core Team Distribution (90% - 0.09 ETH per episode): The remainder supports the core team responsible for bringing each episode to life, from initial concept through to final publication and promotion. Including a prize pool at the conclusion of the series for guest and audience compensation.Closing Comments Thank you for engaging with our proposal for DegenPOD. 0xHashbrown(Rob) & Calvin, are eager to kickstart this venture, bringing vibrant episodes to life and fostering deeper engagement within the Farcaster community.
