Human resources (HR) is the department or function within an organization that is responsible for managing and overseeing the people-related aspects of the business. This includes functions such as recruitment, hiring, training, compensation, benefits, performance management, and compliance with labor laws.

The main goal of HR is to ensure that an organization has the right people, with the right skills, in the right roles, to achieve its business objectives. This requires a deep understanding of the organization's strategic goals and the ability to match the right people to the right jobs.

One of the key functions of HR is recruitment and hiring. This includes identifying the skills and qualifications needed for a particular role, advertising job openings, and screening and interviewing candidates. Once the right candidate is found, HR professionals are responsible for onboarding and integrating new employees into the organization.

Another important function of HR is employee development and training. This includes identifying training needs, developing training programs, and providing opportunities for employees to develop new skills. Training can be in the form of on-the-job training, classroom-based training, or e-learning.

HR is also responsible for managing employee relations, such as addressing complaints and resolving conflicts, as well as managing compliance with labor laws and regulations. This includes ensuring that the organization is following laws related to minimum wage, overtime, discrimination, and workplace safety, among others.
