# NFTs and CTRL C+V

“Someone can just CTRL C + CTRL V and copy your NFT. Lol” That’s not how NFTs work. That’s how jpegs work. And an NFT is not a jpeg! Allow me to explain. With a jpeg, or a picture downloaded from the internet and saved to your local computer, there is no way to prove ownership. You cannot prove the picture: ❌ is an original ❌ you are the sole owner ❌ you bought it from someone In other words, there is no: ❌ proof of identity ❌ proof of ownership ❌ proof of sale This means you can’t prove to someone that you own it, and hence you can’t sell it! So, if you don’t own something and you’re acting like you do, what does that make you? 🤡
