It's been over a month since we dropped the Connection Relics What devs doing? The very same day that we released our Connection Relics into the Templeverse, we started work on our next drop. A NFT game called The Enclave Wars. If the goal with Connection Relics were to awaken TempleDAO from their slumber, then The Enclave Wars are meant to outline a better model for NFT games. NFT games today have a bad reputation. NFT creators think they require hundreds of thousands of dollars to build, and gamers think they’re boring to play and overfinancialized. We need to change these stereotypes. It’s possible to make fun NFT-based games without millions of dollars. It just requires vision, will, and execution. Unlike big-budget studios, we don’t have artwork custom-made for this blogpost, trailer videos, or artificial hype. The team building this project is a small group with zero funding and zero budget. It’s not ideal building circumstances, but it’s not impossible. It just means that we need to hyper focus on building a great product. The steeper the hill, the better the story. Unlike traditional video games, your items are yours. Lose them in battle, barter them with friends, or sell them on a marketplace. It’s none of our business. Unlike other NFT projects, we don’t care how much money you have. The minting experience is just about having fun Our NFT supply isn’t static, it is calculated based on participation. Whales can’t buy up supply in advance. Each player’s supply is allocated based on how active they are. Nobody, not even the core team can rig this allocation.The Goal of the GameWhile the details of the game are yet to be revealed. At a high level, this is a game of risk. You can only keep playing so long as you don’t lose all your warriors in battle. The only way to get warriors is to increase your allocation or buy them from other players. We are rigorously experimenting to find the optimal price and supply for our warriors. In NFT projects today, prices and supply amounts are arbitrarily decided. So instead of setting the minting price at $X each and allow players to mint Y amount, these numbers will be algorithmically discovered.Why a GameWe believe games are the future of entertainment, and for better or worse, entertainment is at the heart of deciding what problems get solved in the world. That’s why to get people to care about important issues, you should make it fun, engaging, and rewarding for people to participate. And because we only make money if people find the game fun and engaging, we are held to a very high standard to confront difficult problems that other projects conveniently sweep under the rug (like making a NFT game fun).
