# Shib ain’t the one for me!

I was at a party last weekend and got into a conversation with a friend’s newish girlfriend. After a lull in the convo, she turned to me and said, “So I heard you’re into crypto, my mom’s bullish on Shib….” What the fuck am I supposed to do with that? Seriously! WTF!

> I’m a Physical Therapist….who has been pilled. Red pilled? Orange pilled? Whatever — I don’t even know. What I do know is that I’m deep in the crypto rabbit hole and I don’t see, nor am I seeking, a way out. This is our future, I’m all-in, and I love it! Shib?!?!?

As a kid I tooled around on my Commodore64 and had one of the original retail modems. I was so psyched the time I connected with someone else on the other end of the line, downloaded SpyHunter for the next 2 days, and my brother and I played that glitchy game, dropping oil slicks and smoke screens for weeks ‘til we wore out the joysticks. At least that’s how I remember it from about 40-years ago.

When the internet first happened for me in 1996, I knew it was a game changer. I expected our world to go instantly online overnight. I adopted email, Amazon, and online trading prior to 2000….as a Physical Therapist. Wannabe nerd I guess. I just love technology and we always utilized the latest tech in my offices.

I started my first practice in 2002 and by 2004 we were one of the first PT practices using an electronic medical record and billing system. Why not? It made the office so much more efficient. Reality is that it wasn’t all digital rainbows and unicorns. Our internet was spotty at times and not every employee loved tech like I did. Go figure. Over the years, we upgraded our systems and every transition was a nightmare, but overall, we were an efficient machine and much of that was due to our tech platform.

Around 2010 I heard Gary V on a Tim Ferris podcast and I was blown away by this little guy who figured out how to take his father’s wine shop online and blast it out to anyone he wanted, however he wanted, through social media. I read his books, watched his vids, and followed his playbook. My PT practice transformed into an online healthcare marketing machine.

In the mid-2010’s another podcast changed my life forever. In 2016, Joe Rogan spoke with Andreas Antonopoulos (I think). What I remember is this guy talking about digital money and how it was going to change the world and lead the way towards a digital transformation of the human experience. What? I researched. I tried to open a Bitcoin account and failed a few times. Then I finally figured it out and bought 10 or 20 Bitcoin for a couple thousand dollars total. Speculation…A big money game….Genius….Mania. Once again, I didn’t know and I still don’t.

What I do know is that my little Bitcoin stash became a lot more valuable over the next few years and I sold a lot of it. I made a decent return, but not nearly as much as if I’d kept it ‘til now. Shoulda, coulda, woulda — every crypto investor’s max pain, right? All the while, I barely talked to anyone about it. I might have been an OG punk if I wasn’t too shy about/ashamed of my crypto life to share it with others in the community. I actually had no idea there was a community at the time.

Today…..I am deep in the community — many crypto communities. About 9-months ago, I was trading BTC and ETH, and treating a few patients here and there. I always asked patients what they do for work, mostly to get a sense of what they physically do all day. One of my patients was having neck and shoulder pain and seemed kind of techie, so I asked him if he works at a computer and how many hours per day. He told me about his trading life and his new obsession with NFTs and ZedRun. Holy shit!

This new universe he introduced me to changed my life. Not all for the better, but definitely changed my life. This was way back in Spring 2021 and Bored Apes had just started to take off. 1 ETH for an NFT? That’s ridiculous. Who would spend that much? Little did we know — shoulda, coulda, woulda!

I have learned more in the past year than in the past 5-years combined and I’m not one to stagnate. Everyday is a firehose. Everyday has its lessons. For the past month I’ve been working for 2 DAOs — Decentralized Autonomous Organizations. I’m writing the Governance Framework for an NFT project’s DAO and I’m also working with a team at Bankless DAO to develop Bankless Consulting. It will likely evolve into a sub-DAO focused on training other DAOs on management and operations best practices. Innovative, challenging, fun work!

> Crypto is changing the world, providing the platform to operate organizations in a trustless environment where all activities and transactions are traceable and accountable. Building business operations in the Web3 space is a journey and the destination is still out there in the wild, but we have embarked on this adventure and we’re not turning back.

That brings me back to what the fuck does Shib have to do with an entire new infrastructure for operating a business or organization? It doesn’t, but most people think crypto is about schemes to make money fast flipping shitcoins and it can be. I still don’t know shit about Shib or Doge or any other Elon Dog coin and I don’t care to. That’s not my jam.

> Don’t get me wrong….I love me a good gamefied, NFT, DeFi ponzi as much as the next guy, but shitcoin for the sake of shitcoin doesn’t do shit for me.

I’m here to change the world. I’m surrounded by other people who have the same gleam in their eyes — not those Bitcoin or shitcoin diamond eyes, but the enthusiasm that comes with knowing we’re onto something bigger than us as individuals, or even us as a community. We’re building a base now for future generations to continue to build on forever. This has nothing to do with Shib!
