# Ferrari flaunts its new $400k SUV but doesn’t want us to call it an SUV. **Published by:** [Durwin](https://paragraph.com/@durwin/) **Published on:** 2022-09-28 **URL:** https://paragraph.com/@durwin/ferrari-flaunts-its-new-400k-suv-but-doesn-t-want-us-to-call-it-an-suv ## Content The Ferrari Purosangue starts at $400k!Ferrari broke its promise, but not our hearts, with the new Ferrari Purosangue. The all-new, finger-licking, head-tilting, Ferrari Purosangue. Can you pronounce it correctly? Ferrari has done it. They promised never to do a 4 seater sports car. Did they break that promise? Not quite. Doing it the Italian way, they insist that it isn’t an SUV, but a shooting brake instead. Let’s see shall we? It has 4 doors, its profile is definitely not of a sports car but it still doesn’t resemble a traditional SUV. It has suicide doors for the back passengers to enter in absolute style. It has a beautiful interior, padded with all the latest Ferrari tech and texture.Ferrari does a good job with the interior of their latest SUV.Compared to a traditional Ferrari, the Purosangue has a gigantic boot. The heart is a beastly naturally-aspirated 6.5 liter V12 engine producing 715 horses. It is as raw as it gets. Sure, in an era of Teslas and Lucids and Rivians, this Purosangue may not be the fastest or the coolest kid, but it sure turns head. With the fearsome emblem of the Ferrari badge, seating 4 humans, all-wheel drive and having all the lovely growls and howls of a grizzly, raw V12 engine, this is as visceral as it gets. If you want pure, unadulterated straight line speed and total functionality, get a Tesla Model X. If you want a 4-seater sports car that screams with a V12 engine and race the tight corners of the road, go with the Ferrari Purosangue. But of course, unless you make Wall Street banker or Hedge fund manager salary, you don’t have to worry about the $400K price tag.Yep, the \*\*Purosangue \*\*doors open suicide style!Atlas, Ferrari has to respond to a market where so many others have capitulated. I am talking about the widely loved (and hated) SUV category. Porsche has the Cayenne and the Macan. Bentley has the Bentayga. Aston Martin has the DBX. Rolls-Royce has the Cullinan. Even their closest competitor, Lamborghini has the Urus. Ferrari had to respond. The Tesla Model X is a fearsome SUV that is both sporty and functional. What I am impressed with is the fact that it can be so familiar yet so vastly different from anything else in the market. Some parts of the Purosangue reminds you of the Ferrari FF, yet the profile and capabilities are modern and top-tier. So ok, if you driven a Tesla Model S or Lucid Air, this would not impress you. It appeals to purists who love the feel of the road, the growl of an engine and the heritage of Ferrari. I like that Ferrari didn’t shy away from the competition and introduced a totally new style and design that is quite different from their usual line-up. It takes courage to take risks and try new things, when it is so much easier to do otherwise. So please, don’t be afraid to do the things you want to do too.
