# Ebisu's ebUSD Goes Multichain Using OFT

Ebisu Money is a CDP protocol deployed on both Ethereum and Plasma. Each deployment supports its own collateral set for minting ebUSD, but otherwise operates identically. However, ebUSD minted on each chain was originally siloed and not natively fungible.

To create a unified cross-chain experience, ebUSD has been upgraded into an OFT, allowing users to move their ebUSD between Ethereum and Plasma at a 1:1 mint-and-burn rate. Once bridged, users can interact with the Ebisu deployment on the destination chain exactly as if their ebUSD were minted there: repay CDP debt, deposit into Stability Pools, participate in Redemptions, and earn the destination chain’s ebUSD yields.

From the protocol’s perspective, this upgrade greatly enhances the moneyness of ebUSD. Arbitrageurs can shift liquidity more efficiently, strengthening ebUSD’s liquidity, peg stability, and overall market efficiency. It is important to note that this fungibility also socializes collateral and oracle risks from both chains across all ebUSD holders.

The LayerZero OFT standard is the market’s preferred interoperability solution, adopted by more than 550 assets and powering nearly $200B in cross-chain volume. With the OFT, ebUSD can move between any connected chain safely, reliably, and without slippage. EbisuAdmin retains the ability to pause bridging in extreme circumstances.
