# A walk in the park

It’s said that you cannot beat the market.

But actually it’s not impossible. Setting expectations is pretty important if you are an investor. There are not many money managers who beat the market on a regular basis. Even the most famous one trailed the performance of S&P 500 in 2019 and 2020 combined by just 37%.

What does that tell you?

In the year 2012, the NBER issued one report which stated that advisors were just as likely as their clients to chase performance instead of following disciplined approaches through proper asset allocation systems. The authors of the report said that “the market of financial advice does not serve to debias clients, but in fact exaggerates biases that are in the advisor’s own financial interests while avoiding those that do not bring fees to them.”

Financial advisor’s actions are not in line with your interest. That’s the truth.
