# WEB3.0: The Common Sense Manifesto

Web3 is the new buzzword. 20 years ago, it was the internet.

Remember how it was only 'nerds' and 'geeks' that were dabbling in early internet? The weird people? Well, today, you would be the odd one to not be on the internet.

For many people, it's not luxury, it is lifestyle. With social media, the internet is so intertwined with culture, it's a part of society.

Who is to say that that's a one time event?

Just a decade ago, only fringe actors dabbled in bitcoin. Even fewer in privacy tech like tor network and silkroad. Today, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts and blockchain is revolutionizing finance, gaming, art, supply chain and more.

Then, there is the Metaverse -a supposed virtually immersive reality that is expected to change how we interact and communicate both for work and leisure.

It's not really what they say it'll be... yet, but clearly, anyone can see that perhaps these 'Gm-Frens-on-CT' are on to something.

There is so much innovation, corporate interests and value creation within this small space in such a short time and the impact is already exponentially greater than the players; such that, centuries old establishments are sitting up to access to the threat.

People are already distrustful of governments and large corporations, especially for economic manipulation and misappropriation of data. Blockchain Technology is the leading solution to designing decentralized products and governance where users have ownership.

All of this with the gloomy political, economic and environmental catastrophe in almost every part of the world?

Something's got to give.

Not for them, for you.

Web3 is that next iteration of the internet where, instead of trusting your personal data to 3rd parties to access public services, you keep ownership of your data or earn a share of revenue from its usage.

Today, advertisers pay centralized companies like Facebook recurring payments for YOUR data. You earn nothing from it. You have no say on how it is used.

So many interesting technologies are rapidly evolving and converging at this time. 5G, ai, VR, Blockchain, robotics, space travel, machine learning etc. We have absolutely no idea what 10 years from today would look like. But, with how terrible the status quo already is, I'm betting that we would want to have more control over our lives.

Web3 is that technology that introduces us to the idea that we can have control over the internet.

The world is a global village, but more and more, it is evolving into interoperable hubs of interest-driven communities. That is what the internet would become. Find your clan. Find your hub. Resisting against a potentially positive change when when your reality is quite bad is just insanity.

This is certainly less difficult than getting on a 16th century ship and sailing off into the unknown.

We should be embracing web3! We should be actively seeking for ways to take responsibility of our lives in this new world.

Ps; this is the start of something. 🔱
