Sugar belongs to sugars in organic chemistry and consists of three atoms: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Monosaccharides are sugars with simple structures, including glucose, fructose and galactose. The commonly used sucrose is a disaccharide, which is broken down into glucose and fructose in the human body. Other disaccharides are maltose and lactose. The longer chain sugars are called oligosaccharides. Some substances with different chemical structures also have a sweet taste, but they are not classified as sugars. Some are used to replace sugar in foods, called sweeteners, and commonly known as sugar substitutes. ## Publication Information - [Superme3362](https://paragraph.com/@enshe/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@enshe/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@enshe): Subscribe to updates - [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Superme3362): Follow on Twitter
