Seolis officially launched. With nothing but a logo, a core vision, and a Discord server, I launched Seolis through this Twitter thread around 10 am ET on Wednesday, October 27th 2021. I wasn’t expecting much, to be honest. So when my phone started ringing every few minutes from Twitter I felt … excited, overwhelmed, super pumped, all of the emotions! People were liking the thread, some were retweeting, and most importantly, people were joining the Discord and introducing themselves and posting in the other channels too! The seeds of the Seolis community had been planted. So … what’s next? Well, it’s time to actually build out the DAO, now (hehe it rhymes). Here’s what I see as essential next steps, in no particular order:Create the $SEOL tokenFigure out tokenomicsRecruit key contributorsCreate and launch the websiteKeep it simple for nowCommunicate the various membership tiers and requirements to rank upCreate and launch Production 0 and related NFTsProof-of-conceptPurpose is to communicate what exactly Productions should be and look like and feel likeGenerate initial amount of revenueBut after reading up a bit on building great communities, I’ve learned that the most important thing, of course, is cultivating that awesome community ~vibe~. Good vibes come from engaged, intrinsically motivated members. This article from Seed Club really shed some light on the basics of community building. In summary, attracting, recruiting, and engaging the right people is essential for a community to thrive. I have so many grand plans floating inside my head for what Seolis could eventually become. Insane digital experiences, crazy IRL events, creative retreats, co-living houses, etc. But at its core, Seolis (and really any DAO) will always be about the people. And I mustn’t forget that. So expect a lot of activity from me on the Discord! I really want to hold a community gathering sometime soon to hear people’s voices, get to know you all, and discuss everyone’s goals, ideas, and visions for Seolis. Oh, and I decided to also film frequent vlogs documenting my work and thought process as I build Seolis out. I was definitely going back and forth in my head with the idea, but I decided it'd be a great opportunity to really connect with everyone. Words are great, but there’s something about watching and listening to someone talk. Plus, I don’t think there’s anyone out there right now documenting the DAO creation process on video, so I’ll get to be the first! The first vlog is right here. Thank you so much for being part of this amazing community. I feel like we’re all on one big epic journey, and I'm so, so excited for it all 🏔 Best, Eric PS: If you have experience in setting up DAOs, or know anyone who might, would love to have a chat!
