# Zichron Yaakov

On our last Sunday off work, we went to a town called Zichron Yaakov, using the usual intercity bus. The town is located north of Netanya on the way to Haifa, in the mountains on the side of the highway.

Zichron Yaakov is one of the first Jewish settlements in the new history, which was founded in 1882. Jews from Romania settled here and began to grow grapes and produce wine, making the town the birthplace of Israeli winemaking 🍷.

Now it's a really small town (Wikipedia says 23206 inhabitants as of early 2020) with one tourist street and somewhat unusual for Israel apartment buildings.

Our main goal was the pedestrian street A-Meyasdim with stores and restaurants, similar to France, as it was said on the internet. In fact, the similarity is still not 🤷‍♂️ Yes, perhaps the low-rise architecture and decor of individual houses can be drawn to France, but without bakeries and coffee shops...? 🤦‍♂️ Nevertheless, a number of houses and courtyards were very pleasant and pleasing to the eye.
