# Letter to the Innocent One

**My Dear Little One,**

You arrived before the story began.

Before clocks, before questions, before names. You came into the world with eyes wide open and a heart even wider, and the world; though it pretended not to notice, _breathed differently_ the moment you arrived. The trees leaned in. The stars blinked twice. Somewhere, a fox paused mid-step and listened.

You didn’t ask for anything, not really. You simply _were_. Soft and starlit, with fingers like spells and a laugh that could uncurl shadows. You didn’t need to earn love. You _were_ love, walking, well crawling, through the room.

And what a creature you were. Not blank. Not empty. But full. Full of knowing without knowledge, full of trust before there was anything to fear. You believed in arms that held you, in the sun that warmed you, in the goodness of it all, because of course it was good. _It had you in it._

You trusted the sky. You trusted the bathwater. You trusted the floor, even when it knocked your head gently, as if to say, “Careful, little magician.” You believed the world was made for you, and here’s the secret, the one even grown-ups forget: _it was._

I see you still, now and then, hiding behind my eyes. I hear you when I catch myself giggling for no reason. You’re there when I feel the sudden need to spin in a field or run my hand along the spine of a tree like it’s an old friend.

And I’m writing to you now, not to teach, not to warn, not even to explain. Just to say: I remember. I remember who you were before the world started calling you other things. And I honour the softness, the wildness, the light you carried in like a lantern.

So keep dreaming, little one. Keep trusting in the strange, in the lovely, in the kind. The world is big and messy and made of stories... but you, you are part of its oldest tale. You were wished for. You were woven in.

And you belonged from the very first breath.

With wonder and candlelight,
**Me**
(_The older one who never stopped believing in you_)
