# Ether's Layer 2

Ether's Layer 2 (L2) ecosystem continues to grow rapidly. Total locked-in value (TVL) across 22 L2s now exceeds $4.36 billion, up 1,194% from a year ago. Where there is growth, there is competition. As pledges increase, so does competition within the L2 ecosystem. To date, much of the buzz around L2 has focused on the "Big Four Rollups," which include Optimistic Rollups (ORU) and Arbitrum, which have gone live and have a rapidly growing user and developer base. The Big Four Rollups also include zk-rollups (ZKRs) and StarkNet, both of which have not received as much attention as ORU, although they are doing well (more on that later). However, there are a number of L2s that are waiting to be disrupted, although little is known about them at this time.
