This is the first edition of a community spotlight series for First Draft Club, called Why I Write.
I asked @sean07.eth to be the first participant for this new experiment since I knew he would deliver; he has posted every week he has been a member of First Draft Club (11 for 11) and often does so well before the Sunday deadline. He also created his own onchain writing app and regularly experiments with different forms of writing.
I sent over a few basic questions for him to answer for this feature, and he again overdelivered – the plan was to just publish his responses here, but he wrote an entire piece on Paragraph.
Here is a brief excerpt:
Each time I write I'm forced to relive what I'm writing about. It opens space for reflection. It also allows me to look at my thoughts and gives me an opportunity to make sure I'm looking at things correctly. One thing I have noticed in the short time I've been writing, is that I often have more I can say about a particular topic than I thought. I might read some seemingly ambiguous statement or fact and if I actually sit down and dissect my feelings about it, I start connecting dots to other themes or uncover new truths.
