_Dear Crypto Enthusiasts (and Skeptics),_

We’re FranklinDAO, a DAO based in Philadelphia, founded by students at UPenn. Our DAO has arms that participate in almost every facet of Web3 — due diligence/sourcing for VCs, software development, and key participants in governance forums all over DeFi.

I’m here to talk about research. Our whole team avidly reads, listens to, and lives research. We’re deeply ingrained in this wonderful world of Web3 — we’ve talked to your favorite protocol founders, worked at funds, started companies and degened into all the rugs you have as well. We love this place, from CT, to the builders, and how quickly the whole space moves; which leads us to the following: What will we be researching? Why do we need more research? How will it be different?

As we’ve spent more time in the space, we’ve come to realize that most research fails to reach true discourse. Tribalism leads to the .eths bashing on the .sols, the .sols bashing the .avaxs, and so on and so forth. People become entrapped in their views, trying to bring as many people over to their side as possible. As these groups avoid interaction with each other, many of the nuances key to truly understanding our complex industry are lost.

So, what’s our solution? FranklinDAO research will be piloting a debate series, with one researcher taking a side. We’ll be pushing out podcasts, medium articles, and Twitter threads for whatever medium you prefer. Expect bull and bear cases on Uniswap, L2s, Aptos, really whatever you might be curious about.

While we work on these longer form pieces, we’ll be consistently pushing out our takes on the current hot topics, whether it’s validator censorship vulnerabilities, Helium’s lack of demand, or GMX forks.

Stay posted. We’re excited for the future, and we hope you are too.

Cheers🍾,

Erik
